The Attorney-General, the Hon Guy Barnett MP, has referred the Weiss Independent Review into Paul Reynolds Final Report 28 June 2024 (the Report) to the Implementation Monitor, Mr Robert Benjamin AM KC, Implementation Monitor pursuant to Section13 of the Child Safety Reform Implementation Monitor Act 2024.
The recommendations contained in the Report relate to child safety and wellbeing in terms of Police operations on behalf of the State of Tasmania.
Mr Benjamin acknowledges the referral of the Report to him and its relevance to his role and obligations to oversee, monitor and evaluate the implementation of the five recommendations as made by Regina Weiss, a Tasmanian barrister.
The addition of the Weiss Report to the portfolio of the Implementation Monitor is a further step in the government’s commitment to ensuring independent monitoring and oversight of child safety reforms and to further protect and safeguard children and young people in Tasmania.
